As energy prices continue to climb, the idea of tapping the power of the sun may seem like a no-brainer. The process of getting solar panels installed, however, is quite the opposite, fraught with spreadsheets, technical details and terms like ?albedo.? Enter RoofRay, a brand-new California startup that aims to give consumers better information so they can make more informed solar decisions. Currently in beta, RoofRay is a solar array modelling service and community designed to help consumers

When the oil runs out on this planet, the next thing we could cling on to power up our vehicles will be the solar energy. This is the most ?natural? resource that could get on Earth without wasting too much of others to generate power.

The Amazing Spider-Man 570 by Dan Slott and John Romita Jr. This will be my second comment on the lettering: the bright red emphasis on Peter?s narrative captions have to go. They are extremely irritating; Spidey?s thoughts, while sometimes urgent, almost never merit being presented in bold red, unless he is screaming out loud. The idea that his thoughts are constantly screaming is an idea that we do not need to have. Ok, rant-mode off. Doing a sequel can be either a stroke of genius or

Zaragoza Tourist Park Derived its name from its host barangay, Zaragoza is a good 30 minutes boat ride from the city of Surigao where the sights of the blue ocean and the greeneries of mountains entertain the voyagers. One of the best spot that offers a nice sight is the Lisondra Rock Formations being passed by along the way. It appears like a lined up dead rocks blackened by the heat of the sun and carved by the waves of the ocean. It appearing black attracts attention from the passersby.

John McCain?s Energy Follies - Editorial - NYTimes.com: notthatkindagay: Global problems obviously require a global response. As the world?s most profligate user of energy, and as one of its most technologically gifted nations, the United States can and should lead the way by developing more efficient vehicles and by expanding carbon-free energy sources like wind and solar power. The John McCain of a few years ago understood this. He sponsored a bill with John Kerry that would have aggressi

For the past few months I have been spending every free moment knitting, sewing, and crafting in preparation for renting an exhibitor?s table at GreenFest Philly? and today was the event! Two blocks in the city were closed to traffic for the day while environtmentally friendly businesses, organizations, and people set up tables to educate the citizens of Philly. There were companies that would help you ?green? you house. There was good vegan food. There were displays on global warming, solar p

Lost amidst the many speeches delivered at the Democrat Convention was one by Sen. Harry Reid of Nevada. He is the Senate Majority Leader and, as such, controls the legislative agenda in that upper house of Congress. Harry Reid hates oil, but then, so does the Democrat Party. The reason this nation is held hostage to other oil producing nations is that the Democrats, going back to President Jimmy Carter, have waged war on the American oil industry. This is especially important insofar as nati

If you?re a collector of dancing panda?s like me, you?ll want to add this one to your collection. This little dancing panda is powered by the sun. Or more likely your office?s overhead fluorescent lighting. A small solar cell on the front collects the light and transforms the solar power into dancing panda power (aka the most powerful thing in the universe). The panda has an on/off switch in case you are overly annoyed by it. Panda power! Available for $16 at Gadget4All

T. Boone Pickens proposed an energy plan last July designed to reduce America's dependence on foreign oil. It is called the Pickens Plan and is being shown in short commercials all over national television.Pickens says the United States is spending $700 billion dollars every year importing foreign oil. The United States, he says, uses nearly a quarter of the world's oil, yet we have only 4% of the world's population and 3% of the world's reserves. He proposes making the shift away from oil in two

Germany and Spain are leading the world in producing energy from the sun. The potential of solar energy is enormous. However, the development of solar infrastructure to harvest energy from the sun is still too slow. From the AFP. Last year the world production of photovoltaic models represented a surface of 40 square kilometres (16 square miles) while meeting the electrical consumption of countries like France or Germany would require 5,000 square kilometres, he said. Under current scenarios

He made some flubs in accepting the nomination. Summary We checked the accuracy of McCain?s speech accepting the Republican nomination and noted the following: McCain claimed that Obama?s health care plan would "force small businesses to cut jobs" and would put "a bureaucrat ... between you and your doctor." In fact, the plan exempts small businesses, and those who have insurance now could keep the coverage they have. McCain attacked Obama for voting for "corporate welfare" for o

Earlier this week we featured a drawing of a simple grid tie system. A common misconception about grid tie solar electric systems is that you will have a power source when the power goes out, although unless you have a battery backup system your system will go down when the grid goes down. Some people who need backup power and don't mind the maintenance and replacements every few years of a battery bank consider a grid tie system with battery backup. Today's drawing also comes from the Guide t
